Good for Markus and team! I hope he gets to pull back now and do whatever he enjoys doing with his life. Having a game blow up like this must have been a really double edged sword. Success is great and all but someone (like Markus) who gets a fan base like would have had unbelievable responsibility toward their fans, which would probably be no fun at all, and was definitely not his original intention.
2  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / Re: ArrayList vs LinkedList on: 2012-08-23 05:47:14
I just want to stop in and say that this thread is freaking AWESOME.

And for the rest of the people new to the thread that don't want to read all the awesomeness, the answer to the original question is ArrayList.

I'm totally hooked on Blast Network now!

<JOKE>
I thought this thread was seeking a male model and that I was about to make an easy $100... Not this week. Good luck on your real endevour.

6  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: JavaOne '07 on: 2007-03-29 17:49:56
I'll be attending this year. If I recognize any names or faces I will be sure to say hello! I'm going with some guys for work, but I'll be sure to check out all the gaming goodness.

Also, if anyone out there is considering registering alone, I need 2 more referrals in order to get the PSP!

It would be awesome if you would consider using my registration ID: W0718383

Anyone else going that I should be looking out for?

Site appears to be up, but the files are all gone.
9  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: stop calling projects "project approved: name" on: 2005-10-11 06:44:17
or even better could just be to use the Thumbs up and down icons for approved disapproved, and another icon for new, and then just have the project title as the title..
10  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: AI test for my snake game (AnacondaNet) on: 2005-06-08 20:53:45
Sorry Moogie I have no input on your AI because I have yet to do anything with AI but your game is coming along really well, I really like the concept, keep chugging! Simple yet I could see how it could be really fun.

Very cool! I too like how the map is built right in front of you!!!
12  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: Karma system on: 2005-06-03 21:29:13
Oh man Smiley I think it sounds pretty neat but I dont see that its 'needed'. I vote to let it roll and see how it goes, it adds another little element to the forums. If it keeps things interesting that is good! Sounds like I need to start post whoring more so I can give some karma out, 350 is harsh!
13  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Foon on: 2005-05-25 18:09:34
Works great on my windows machine. I like the concept!! You are an animal.
14  Discussions / Miscellaneous Topics / Re: It's called "recycling"... on: 2005-05-24 16:07:56
First time I went back to the site the Java console popped up and it locked up. 2nd time it was fine. Thunderbird seems fine now aswell. Maybe just a one time thing?

The effect is cool but you cant really tell what game is what just from a tiny little picture. Are you planning on having all the games organized on this little thing or just a top 10 or whatever?

Also did you lose your layout guy? The site is looking really blah. Pun possibly intended.

Historically having an opening page with not much content and then having a micro 'go to the site here' link is very bad practice unless you are 95% sure the people you are sending to the site will be interested enough to keep clicking. To me, its not very apparent that this is just an "opening page" and I would suggest dropping them directly to the main page, or at least least least, making it more apparent that its an intro page. (which Ive never understood).
15  Java Game APIs & Engines / OpenGL Development / Re: Migrating from Java2D to LWJGL on: 2005-02-23 19:22:54
So I noticed today K.I.L.E.R is male 'again?'....

16  Game Development / Game Play & Game Design / Re: Commercial game: how many levels? on: 2005-02-17 04:14:56
agreed!

more != better

fewer quality levels would be better than many poor levels. That being said, as many good levels as you can fit couldnt hurt Smiley

The previous posts are right on target.

From a volleyball tournament last year, tiny bit big but I couldnt think of anything smaller right now and didn't want to bother with a resize.

I can host a domain if someone wants to buy it, otherwise I can  host a subdomain or whatever if you dont mind it being one I already own.

Or gamelizard or the java.net thing, whatever Smiley

HOW ABOUT A FREE BAN!
22  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: Reviving Mini Adventure on: 2005-01-27 21:22:57
What about combat more similar to Final Fantasy Tactics instead of regular. I find it much more enthralling and it entails more strategy of sorts. Wouldnt be a whole lot harder to do either.

Also, put me down for the website/host if you choose to move away from Kevs site.

I may be down to help with some coding, but I'll wait and see what is left after more anxious people dig in Smiley

I think that skill based instead of Class based could be cool, why limit!

In the past I've done: (for combat skills)

Offense (affect % hit)
Defense (affect % evade)
Armor (absorbs % of hit, based on armor worn + any natural)
Damage (inflicts damage, based on weapon + any natural)
Speed (if using ff tactics type engine, or even FF engine, how quickly you move or can attack)
Life/Health
Mana/Magic

Possibly break client down into:

2D and 3D (LWJGL) also

or maybe just LWJGL :O
23  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: Xith3D HUD support? on: 2005-01-27 16:04:09
If someone could make a UI structure and not dissapear, I think the entire Xith community would thank you, at least!

25  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Is anyone actually using Xith3D for a game? on: 2005-01-10 20:45:31
Is anyone actually using Xith3D for a game?

I used it for Arthropod Armageddon, but grew tired of waiting for a real GUI.

What about you guys?

Supposedly Magicosm got picked up by a group of Brazillian programmers, but we'll see Smiley
26  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: ui xith3d on: 2005-01-10 20:42:21
I'd like to see ... ANYTHING! Smiley

I've had a game almost ready for at least 6 months now and I haven't wanted to continue development or show anyone because the UIWindow GUI is all messed up on non windows platforms, etc...

It doesn't appear that anyone is actively working on a GUI system for Xith.

I know I've brought it up in the past and I've been told that Xith isnt dead, but it doesnt really seem that anyone is using it for any games. I think I'll start a subthread labeled that Smiley

30  Java Game APIs & Engines / OpenGL Development / Re: Shield effect on: 2004-10-25 15:29:20
Kev has a nice shield in Grav2, and I thought that Alien Flux had one as well... should be able to hunt around in the source to find it...
