I too did some research on this a while ago, and found these interesting threads, with links to comparison charts and stuff:

not forgetting all those lovely jmex plugins!

jme-physics, 3rd person camera system (per made this one). Md5 importer with joint controllers, blender exporter...

Yup, those plus the gamestate system would be game-engine features I guess.

kevglass wins!

Man... do you have to throw it in my face? Wink

Soo, you want a rematch or what?
4  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2005 / Re: IsOlation Net on: 2005-02-06 13:44:31
Just played some with kev - very simple, but still so much fun Smiley

And 4k :O
5  Java Game APIs & Engines / jMonkeyEngine / Re: Physics System 0.3 on: 2005-02-04 14:48:49
Thanks Smiley

jME already has its own math and log libraries, so we could replace vecmath and log4j with them, resulting in a size decrease of ~ 600kb, + the user now only has to deal with one jar.
6  Java Game APIs & Engines / Tools Discussion / Eclipse and row counting on: 2005-01-21 10:46:24
Anyone knows how to count the total amount of rows (java code) in an entire project?
7  Java Game APIs & Engines / jMonkeyEngine / Re: Shadow Volumes on: 2005-01-20 07:41:19
Wow! Impressive indeed Smiley

This would be a great addition to jME.
8  Java Game APIs & Engines / jMonkeyEngine / Re: Server Status on: 2005-01-18 19:21:55
Losing 10,000 posts would suck! Sad
9  Java Game APIs & Engines / jMonkeyEngine / Re: Why do you hate me? :( on: 2005-01-17 19:31:49
Seem to be semi working now: site up, forum down...
10  Game Development / Game Mechanics / Re: [Odejava] quickStep and step size on: 2005-01-16 16:30:01
Ok, thanks.
11  Game Development / Game Mechanics / [Odejava] quickStep and step size on: 2005-01-12 18:44:20
Is there a difference in doing:

World.setStepSize(tpf)
World.quickStep()

To:
World.quickStep(tpf)

?
12  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Puppytron! on: 2005-01-11 20:06:55
What's to say... it's brilliant Smiley

Great gameplay, sounds, gfx and it runs just sooo smooth.
13  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: Why Java, not C++? on: 2005-01-11 19:55:11
Regarding where all the great java games are hiding, at least I had never heard of this game until recently:
http://www.hockeychallenge.se

Don't let the word "manager" fool you - it has some really neat 3D graphics. I think it's almost finished...

It should be easy to navigate even though the text is in Swedish - there's like one button Smiley (big)

PS: I think jadestone got rated as the fastest growing Swedish game developer or something like that.

JME is more of a high-level toolkit.  What I have seen it more resembles a game/graphic engine with a scengraph structure but I might mistaking. It seems to offers a fairly extensive toolkit. I don't know that much about JME but I believe that the (the standard plugin) is based upon lwjgl. Which might make it hard to integrate it with SWING if that is a priority?

Actually, Swing and SWT support is in from v0.8 and above. And yes, at the moment only LWJGL is supported, but integration with JOGL is in progress (almost done if I've understood it correctly).
15  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Twin Serpents - a multiplayer Double Dragon ga on: 2004-12-21 20:06:14
Ok, just did a bit of fighting, and it seems cool Smiley

The number at the top left of the screen went between 100 - 200 (ping?). I noticed some lagg.

Camera should also follow the player or something, cuz sometimes you lost track of your character...
16  Java Game APIs & Engines / jMonkeyEngine / Re: OMG!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!! on: 2004-12-13 20:44:25
Huhu, what was it that made them shut it down?
17  Java Game APIs & Engines / jMonkeyEngine / Re: OMG!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!! on: 2004-12-12 09:38:33
The site has been down yesterday and today... don't know why, but it has happened one time before also, and got fine the same day.

Don't worry Smiley
18  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: Where Are You? on: 2004-12-12 09:27:14
Sweden. Think we have two big game companies here: DICE (Battlefield etc.) and Massive (Ground Control).

We also have Agency9 and Meqon (physics engine).

The game industry seems to be sort of dead ATM, but lots of ppl are going these game educations, so that might change...
19  Discussions / Miscellaneous Topics / Re: It's good to be informed on: 2004-12-12 09:19:52
I'm not a demolision expert or architect so I can't say if this is true or not (blah is right - there's way to many theories like this for one to really bother).

It wouldn't really surprise me if it were tho, since the US gov lies about other important stuff.
20  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Rimscape on: 2004-12-02 11:29:27
Awsome! The most polished Java2D game I've seen. The menu runs really slow tho - 10 fps Sad

Keep up the good work!

21  Game Development / Game Mechanics / Re: [odejava] References instead of copies on: 2004-11-23 06:16:00
Well, this is really not a big issue. I'ts just the way jME does it, and I thought it would be nice to have it the same way in ODE, because I'm using the two together.

If you guys wanna have it the way it is, that's really no problem Smiley

On my initial post I'd missed the

2
  javax.vecmath.Quat4f  getQuaternion(javax.vecmath.Quat4f result)
     Returns the quaternion using the provided Quad4f

which solves the "optimization issue".
22  Game Development / Game Mechanics / Re: [odejava] References instead of copies on: 2004-11-22 14:00:59
Well, I'd like to be able to do:

myPlaceableGeom.getQuaternion().x = ....
myPlaceableGeom.getPosition().x = ....
23  Game Development / Game Mechanics / [odejava] References instead of copies on: 2004-11-21 15:08:25
Hi there,

Can't someone (Will) make PlaceableGeom.getQuaternion() and PlaceableGeom.getPosition() pass references instead of copies?

Is the jME maintainer still with us Java fans? I'm asking (seriously) because last time I visited his site (some 1+ months ago) he's been busily working with Dotnet and applied to the Xbox headquarter (I think he got the job?)
On avarage mojomonk posts ~4 times per day at the jME forums.

As for the name, it was one of the things that made me choose jME over Xith Smiley.
