setFieldOfView() on the view, set it to 22.5 degrees.

Can't you traverse the vertices of the model and find the min/max-values?

How does one generate a pick ray from a mouse click on the canvas?

I'm making a landscape, currently I've lots of small objects, and now I want a single large object, but I need to know where I click. It's enough if I get the polygon I hit. Somewhere Xith must know which polygon that is hit, so then I'll have to modify the code in the picking util.

Is it possible to get the coordinates on the object that is picked, that is where the picking ray hits the object?

When I add objects to the scenegraph, with textures that contains transparent pixels, untextured objects start to flicker, that is they occasionally turn black. Anyone else who has had that problem?

Is it a bug or a feature and in that case are there a work around other than texturing all objects?

Thanks
Björn

If you use setColor directly on vertices in a Shape3D to create, say, a red triangle, do you have to do something more, because my tringle becomes black.

Ran into the same problem myself;

theShape..setAtom(null);

does the trick, but I don't know if that's the correct way to do it.

Thanks a lot!

I create an empty(transparent) BufferedImage and paint(black) letters directly on to it, but when it is rendered the edges becomes blurry as it is blended against the background. If I use BLEND_ZERO, the pixels that were blended becomes black, thereby swelling the letters, making them harder to read.

Do you get any of the above effects?

Is it possible to have transparent textures without any blending? If I use BLEND_ZERO as blend function, it appears that the pixels that should normally be blended gets black.

What I want to do is a text label with transparent background and to make the text as clear as possible I don't want it to blend with the background.

Thanks a lot! I'll try that tonight.

I just started porting my Java3D code to Xith3D and so far everything is a lot better and faster, great work!

There is one small problem though, the view distorts slightly, especially in the lower right and left corner, as seen through a fish eye lens or something. It's not a great problem, but annoying enough. I use the PERSPECTIVE projection policy.

Does anybody know why? I didn't find any topic about it.

Regards, Björn
