1  Game Development / Shared Code / Arabian Flights - an Open Source Java3D FPS on: 2003-10-15 18:51:32
I have just released my Java3D FPS 'Arabian Flights' under the GPL, so if anyone wants to make an outdoor FPS with Java3D, you can use AF as a starting point or just for some reference material. its got a physics engine that detects collisions between particles and a landscape that tiles, so there's no edges. It also has simple buildings and basic smoke effects.

(This is kind of a cross post with the "Your Games Here'"forum, but I think it's appropriate here too)
2  Games Center / Archived Projects / Arabian Flights 1.1 released and GPL'd on: 2003-10-15 18:38:58
I have released Arabian Flights 1.1 under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Arabian Flights is a First-Person Shooter loosely based on the old DOS game Magic Carpet. It uses the Java3D library. I have completed the bulk of the development (150+ hours) and have released it as Open Source. That means if you want to make an outdoor 3D FPS in Java, Arabian Flights can be used as a starting point.

However, it's still a bit buggy, and if you want to help me fix it up and add more features, you can join the SourceForge project.

or if you just want to play it, the .jar file can be gotten here (Requires Java3D):
