Wow, nice start on those tutorials!

Very cool!!  Cheesy

One thing through, when you use the block feature, any attack on your guy doesn't work.  All you have to do is block, wait until your opponent stops punching etc, and then punch back.  This makes the game easy.  In Mortal Kombat, blocking is limited.

I have followed links until by fingers were raw and bloody from clicking my mouse trying to figure out the basics of java 3d programming.  I even bought Java 1.4 game programming and was pretty pissed after I read it and it didn't even mention the word 3d in the whole book.

Im not sure how hard this would be, and maybe it's too much to ask but,

Can someone please teach me how to take a 3d model from 3ds Max, import it into Java, and move it around in 3d space?  Im even willing to pay someone if they can teach me even more, i.e. importing terrain and having a character walk across it.

Thanks for the links.  I followed all of them but those are just a few peices of the puzzle.  I am looking for something that will teach me the complete concept of java game design, from importing graphics, moving them in 3d space, and collision detection.

Does such a tutorial exist (published or on the net)?
or do I have to peice it together?

If I want a complete tutorial, do you suggest I bite the bullet, learn C++ and go from there?

Thanks to all for answering all of  my other 3d newbie questions.  Smiley

I have aquired (sp?) the tools nessesary to create a 3d game in java.  My goal is to create a simple 1st person shooter.  I have created by graphics and am now ready to start programming.

The problem is, I can't find any beginner tutorials.  I need to learn how to take my 3d studio creations and move them within a 3d world.  Can someone please point me to a beginners tutorial?

Much thanks

When ever I try to compile something from I get an error and says that it cant find the openGL api's that he is using in the code.  I cant give the exact error right now because I am not at home, but I will post it a little later.  Does this mean that OpenGL is not properly installed on my machine?  Im running XP pro.

I am new to java and am not looking for code right here.  I am just wondering a few things about java.

1) Can I import images (characters) that I make in 3d Studio Max and use them in a game?

2) Is java powerfull enough to make games such as Couter Strike, Swat, etc?

3) Is there websites that have good tutorials on Java 1.4 game programming (2d or 3d)?
