InstallAnywhere has a free version. Have used it in the past.

I looked on their site but the trial says installers created with it will time out after 3 days Cry

Game fails to connect.  IDE looks impressive, though didnt have time to do much with it.

For now you can only test with the local server option (check the box) hopefully we will have a server running for version 0.2

The IDE is dead snazzy! Could we get an installer in the next release?

Haven't tried the client/webstart/server yet.

Kev

Do you know of a good Java installer that is free?

9  Games Center / Archived Projects / Finally A Release JRPG 0.1 on: 2005-03-21 10:14:07
Today we release version 0.1 of JRPG, the Jave RPG system based who own its conception to Kevin Glass. This version sports a much more robust and usable ide interface to create game content. The IDE was the main focus of this release. I felt that providing good tools so people would create content is very important. The Game is basically unchanged. However I would like people to test it for a sanity check, some of the main class did get touched in refactoring.

Please everyone give them a try, especially the editor, and post your comments, errors, ect.

http://www.frontiernet.net/~krypto/jrpg/jrpg.jnlp

http://www.frontiernet.net/~krypto/jrpg/ide.zip

just unzip ide.zip and run ide.bat. Please give feedback it is very crucial to our moving forward. The next release will concentrate on the Game; including Audio, enhanced Environments, and a battle system.

11  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / Signing JAR Files for webstart on: 2005-03-16 06:59:46
Forgive my cross posting, but I believe I should not have posted this to Tool Discussion earlier. My Basic Problem is that I can't sign a jar so that my webstarted app will have all-permissions , I know I have to generate a key with keytool then sign the jar with that key, but I must be missing something. When I try to sign the jar I get the error

1
mumble is not a private key

Can somebody please walk me through the necessary steps, I'm really ignorant in this area.... Well this area among many Wink

19  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: Image Diff Algorithm on: 2005-03-08 10:41:27
Thanks for the info. I already got something working with PixelGrabber... My images are Images not BufferedImages.
I think its working pretty good though. This should keep the size of my tilesets Down. Cool.
20  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Image Diff Algorithm on: 2005-03-08 09:13:58
I have code for the JRPG IDE that creates tilesets. One feature the team has implemented is "tilize". It takes an images and chops it up into certain sized tiles. Sometimes the tiles will be duplicates and I would like to remove them.

How can I compare two images in code and see if it is visually equal to another image?

I pretty much just know the basics.  I have a book that I bought and I've gone through the tutorial a little bit.  After doing some more reading, I think your right that I should just jump into java2d.

If You want to work on a team as opposed to going it alone check out the JRPG Project here. Everyone is welcome to join.

It looks like you guys have had fun with this topic. I'm surprised it just "stoped" here and that no one posted anything about all the changes that have occured to it in the last little while.

Anyhow,  Ttyl!

Later,

~Me

Well that's because this thread refers to Mini Adventure as it was when Kevin Glass ran the whole show. Since Then he has graciously handed it over to the community via myself. And after that he volunteered to work on it again. Man... Kevin is weirder than I am  Wink
