I've always been fascinated by emulators and the technology behind them. I can't make them however, which is why they probably still seem that cool. +1

I prefer total silence when I program. If I do listen to music I pick something soft and midi like runescape music turned down low.

Finally got access to internet with my laptop. For the last five months I've been in and out of jails and institutions. I am now a recovering addict and life is really looking up - I hate to drop such a bombshell on the community, but I'm accepting who I am and what I've done and now I need to move on. I'll probably contribute on JGO a little bit but not nearly as much as in the past. I love you guys.

int absoluteWidth = (int) (o.getWidthScale() * image.getWidth() * scaleWidth);
int absoluteHeight = (int) (o.getWidthScale() * image.getWidth() * scaleWidth);

Can you spot the mistake?

Oh, the joys of copypasting while forgetting to change what you copypasted.

12  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / Re: libgdx - using system cursor on: 2016-12-25 14:57:18
Try this,

1
2
Pixmap pixmap = new Pixmap(Gdx.files.internal("path_to_your_cursor.png"));
Gdx.graphics.setCursor(Gdx.graphics.newCursor(pixmap, 0, 0));

it works with Gdx 1.7.1

He wants to use the system cursor, not make his own.

EDIT: Found your problem

1
Gdx.graphics.setSystemCursor(Cursor.SystemCursor.VerticalResize);

When you probably copypasted this line, you didn't change the
Cursor.SystemCursor.VerticalResize
.

As "promised" 3 days ago, I wrote a 6502 cpu emulation to execute my assembler programs. Of course, one can combine this with the BASIC V2 interpreter that I did a few months ago.
So the ultimate goal has been reached: I can now do HTML-templating not only in good old Commodore Basic but I can use assembler in the templates as well (for speed, you know... Wink ).
After all, I would still rather code this way than using PHP...

Example template:

17  Game Development / Networking & Multiplayer / Re: How to convert this game into a multiplayer game? on: 2016-12-01 03:40:46
Yeah, but I dont know where to learn them from. There are hardly any textbooks for java multiplayer game programming. Could you just help with basic connection in my game. Just get two players to move, just two clients is enough, which would give me an idea.

Your problem is that your search is too narrow. You need to look for network programming tutorials, not java multiplayer game programming tutorials. Your job then as the programmer is to apply the concepts learned in the network programming tutorials to your purpose of making a game multiplayer.
18  Game Development / Networking & Multiplayer / Re: How to convert this game into a multiplayer game? on: 2016-11-30 19:36:56
I did learn sockets, but I don't know how to actually use them and there aren't many tutorials for java game development. If its not asking too much, would it be possible for you to show me how to do it?

If you actually learned Sockets, you would know how to use them. This may be an example of the pot calling the kettle black, but do not rely on game development tutorials. They limit your java knowledge to what they are teaching you and are basically worthless if you're actually trying to learn java.
19  Game Development / Networking & Multiplayer / Re: How to convert this game into a multiplayer game? on: 2016-11-30 13:15:24
It sounds like what you need is the Generic Multiplayer Connector (https://bitbucket.org/SteveSmith16384/genericmultiplayerconnector), which is designed to do exactly what you want, i.e. quickly and easily broadcast data to all other clients.  There's a link to the wiki on that page that goes through adding it to a game step by step.

No self-advertising there Emo

OP, you should learn about Sockets. Once you get them running correctly, it's easy.

First off, this is a cool looking game. But there's one thing about this that's bothering me.

The art style for your logo and the actual game's art are very far apart.

When I first saw the logo after clicking on this post, I thought "Damn, this looks really well-made and cool," because the art style of the logo appeals to me. But when I scrolled down for actual screenshots of the game, I was surprised to see something that looked like it was made in a completely different art style. I'll use your own screenshots to prove it.

I mean this in the best way possible, and I'm guilty of this myself, but it looks like you drew this in MS Paint in about 5 minutes.

Not saying that there's anything wrong with that, but that's miles away from your epic looking logo

That's what initially caught my attention, and to see a totally different art style in the game makes me less excited to play.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if the whole game was one art style or the other.

If the internet has taught me anything it's that I'm not the only person to think this, so you're probably turning off more people than just me with this, in a way, false advertising.

Just some things to keep in mind.
