I am glad you like the idea and the graphics.
About the GUI:
We try to keep the GUI as simple as possible. We don't want to create a hugh GUI overlying the game.
In the right bottom corner is a place reserved for the minimap. The minimap is not done yet. In the middle bottom is the unit information.
There you will see some general informations aout the clicked unit. In this case the Townhall is clicked and you see also the resource storage of the building (tabsystem).

On the middle right side is the build menu. We hope 2 level are enough for all available buildings. The first level is the categorie and the second level is the building.
At the moment each button look equal because it take some time to create these icons. On hover you will see the name of the building. After choosing the building, the building sticks to the mouse and you can place it at an available position on the map (building look green -> OK, building look red -> Not OK). As long as the building is at the mouse you can rotate the building by using the mouse wheel.

On the left upper side you will see a game information area. The images for this menu are also not done. At the moment it is more a default look.
Everytime something happen the information will displayed in these box. At this time the Townhall is ready (which is the first building you have to build). When you click on the text, the cam will move to the spot where the event happened.

The game information area and the build menu are just displayed if you need or want that.
