Nothing. I have reinstalled with xorg but it seems to be th same... MesaGL i begin to hate MesaGL Angry  I have reinstalled without quit older installation, is it the right way to reinstall? Well, some idea?  Embarrassed

I am downloading SuSe 9.3. Its possible that Mandrake 10.2 was incompatible with this drivers... it is an idea..

if you are refering to load and draw .3ds .x .ase .. etc.. etc.., jogl only is a renderer. You have to make your loaders or use some made. You also can use a graphic engine or a game engine, that is an high level code with loaders.

Nothing, i cant configure well the ati card. I tried a lot of differents configuration but i cant find the correct way. The opengl renderer is always MesaGL renderer. I have a panoramic flat screen, its possible that it is a problem, i dont know. Now GLX is used by ati driver, but opengl is MesaGL. Thx for help me. I will see in the web, now that i know that its possible to configure the ati card in my computer. It may be Mandrake the problem? Mandrake seems to use only xorg... Well, i will try to search information of this in google.

Hi again. I download the installer and install it. First i do "su root" and install the driver in automatic mode. With fglrxconfig is when i have problems. It need information that i dont know exactly what choose. I tried some differents configuration, but ati yet use MesaGL renderer, and glxgears have 300 fps only. In the ati linux driver there is a link where tell us the video cards supported.

What distribution of linux are you using?

I cant configure the ati drivers. I have seen that 9700 mobility isnt supported. 9600 and 9600 M9 are supported, but 9700 mobility (is the same that 9600 M10) isnt supported. What a pity  Cry. Thx for the help. When 9700 ati radeon mobility (9600 m10) drivers exists then i will use linux. Thx for all.

This is the page i told you. There are drivers for ATI Radeon 9700, but no for ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility (i think). I enter in Linux x86 # Notebooks with ATI Graphics, and there are nothing to download. What driver must i download for a Mobility ATI Radeon 9700 ? Thx.

PD: I use Mandrake 10.2 (Mandrake 2005LE). I put 2D accleration, but no 3D acceleration. The renderer that Ati Radeon 9700 MOBILITY uses is MesaGL.

Hi, i had two week ago Linux installed, and i used jogl with it. My problem is that hardware acceleration is off in Linux with an ATI Radeon 9700 mobility. I tried put it on, but its impossible... I had to use WinXP for jogl development but i like Linux. Someone know how put hardware acceleration of the video card in Linux? Some driver maybe? Thx for reply, i hope use Linux with hardware acceleration some day  Undecided

PD: In ATI web page there is any driver for this video card in linux (i think), i have seen often.

Wow, its great!, it run very fast now!. When i did see your post (GL_VENDOR, GL_RENDERER..) i begin to think. I have changed the opengl configuration of my videocard, from 16bits to 24bits, and now it run very well!. (Java3D crash with 24bits.. JOGL whit 16bits with a ati radeon 9200)

if i put windowed mode, out strings are:

the same. is it normal that jogl uses GDI Generic as renderer? Thx for reply.

I have a problem. I have a program with a few triangles rotating... very slow. How can i do that jogl fullscreen uses hardware acceleration? (i dont know if is used).

I have a ati radeon 9200, and i tried with default GLCapabilities, and with:

GLCapabilities cap=new GLCapabilities();
       
       cap.setHardwareAccelerated(true);
       cap.setDoubleBuffered(true);          canvas=GLDrawableFactory.getFactory().createGLCanvas(cap);
, but in fullscreen it is very slow.

PD: In a small window this is very fast, but a game is usually in fullscreen mode.
