@Riven I need a fast sudoku generator and this is not so simple. The last digits most of the times will not fit and it needs to try over and over again. When the board is full, I need to remove some digits and check every time for all the possible combinations. If more than one combination is possible, I need to redo the last digit and start again. At least 17 default digits are needed to have a Sudoku than can be solved. To test difficulty, I need to check how "humans" can reveal the numbers. In this site they explain the rules to solve the board. For the Easy levels I could leave easy hints and for the hardest levels don't.
But this is hard to do. I guess I am over thinking again (this happens a lot with me). Maybe I will just grab some Sudoku generator and create some predefined levels for my game. Then, I just need to create one Sudoku solver algorithm to check for wrong digits.

I still need to wrote mine. First I am trying to generate a Sudoku, but this is hard because I need a smart way to create difficulty (easy, normal, hard, hardest) and every generated boards can only have 1 final solution.

I know... Another contest?? Well, not exactly. This is not a *real* contest.
I am researching about Sudoku algorithms to generate and solve 9x9 boards.
This is not so easy as it seems. Some "hard" Sudokus can take more than 180 seconds to be solved by a computer!
There are some techniques, check this Wikipedia page.

So, my idea: Lets see who can create the best algorithm to solve 1000 (example) Sudokus more efficiently.
Sudoku format: 4.....5.8.3..........7......2.....6.....5.8......1.......6.3.7.5..2.....1.8......
Rules:
-Track how much time it takes in milliseconds to solve all the Sudokus (better in different computers).
-Track how many loops, tries and errors were needed to solve them.

Good or bad idea? I will need to make one anyways for my next game. Would be fun some competition. Grin

I have Google Adsense but RPM is low. I do not have 500k downloads yet! I will remove the title, I have almost 400k. And just downloads. Some users (>50%) do not have the game installed.

seismic: I made this game for my dad to play on his tablet. After some time (maybe 1 year) I decided to publish the game on play store. I did no advertise at all (just tell my friends to download the game, and post this topic here).

Why you don't create one emulator for each target?
Personally, I only test my games in 4 targets. The smallest and the latest apis in emulators and in my mobile (2.3) and tablet (4.x).

For my game, targets must used:
Android 4.1 ___ 35,37%
Android 2.3.3 - 2.3.7  ___ 19,02%
Android 4.0.3 - 4.0.4 ___ 18,79%
Android 4.2 ___ 12,97%
Android 4.3 ___ 6,59%
Android 2.2 ___ 3,18%
Android 2.1 ___ 1,96%
Android 4.4 ___ 0,87%
Android 1.5 ___ 0,42%
Android 3.2 ___ 0,40%

EDIT: I miss understood this thread. Try to target the lowest api possible.

@opiop65, same here.
But sometimes even with good variable names I lost myself if the project is too big.
In my Dominoes game I spend some time looking around to know how some stuff works before I release a new update. Maybe I have 1000 lines of code just to know where to put the next piece on the table (must check horizontal space, vertical space, last piece number in each corner, pieces size, etc).

Participants can rate other games, but they can't rate the games that they did.
Don't make it internal so other users can also participate.
Also, it is "unfair" to give to every participant medals for a simple 1 hour game. We must change this.
My option: Create some vote thread (I don't know if this is possible on this forum, if not, lets use some online site that can do this for us, for example this one. The winner is the participant with more votes. And the "reward", hummm, maybe every participant give medals to the winner.

You can load your levels from images. I don't know the size of your maps, but even big maps (200 x 200 tiles) can be stored inside one small image (200x200 pixels image = 505 bytes).
Images are easy to share and easy to download. You can also load them inside your android game and save the map information with Shared-preferences (for example).
For computer you can create one folder called "maps" or "levels" and store all images there.

Just my opinion, not sure if this is what you wanted (one way to save/share levels).

Depends on the game you want to make. If you want a simple game, a turn based game or a game with heavy gui, you should go with Swing. I was making this game without external libraries. I had good performance with multiple layers, big scrollable map, collision detection, animated tiles, etc.
Also swing is good to practice in your first projects. Just my opinion. Wink

This is really a fun game, but to easy to unlock everything. You should add more extras and you can even sell this.

I found one error with one quick fix: If we lose all lives we spawn again for a short moment before main menu. Make our spaceship invisible.

EDIT: No sound here.

Items should be more expensive. With 40 min of game play I already have everything maxed out. Add more items like shields, more bullets, extra life, more powers like wave of bullets etc.
Really nice game, if you polish it more and add more stuff you can even sell this.

@bene What do you mean with real fullscreen? What is not real about it?
A window with 1920x1080 is not full screen. Yes the window fits the whole screen, but is different from *real* full screen.
Also, to improve performance, you can create your game in 800x600 and scale it up, instead of 1920x1820 and scale it down. Or one option to change resolution in-game.

This is just my opinion. Personally, I like to make my games in 600x480 or 800x600 and scale them up. And enable full screen (I don't know how to do this in libgdx, but in java2D you only need two lines of code).

My computer is not new but this is not my computer issue. Even a old computer with 1GB ram and Pentium 4 (or even older) must run this kind of 2d games.
The problem here, I think, is because the window size. We can't change resolution and 1920x1080 (my screen resolution) is too much for Java games.
And on Linux full screen make a huge difference. For example if I play teeworlds minimized I have ~20fps, if I play full screen maybe +~90 fps. The same with other games.
Please make this game with real full screen or with an option to change resolution size.

My specs (though not the problem):
-3GB ram
-core 2 duo @ 2.53GHz
-Radeon HD 5670

Slow! Maybe 5~8 fps in Xubuntu 13.10.
Why I can't change resolution? At least make the game full screen to improve performance.

Clean your project first and see if it works.
Eclipse > Project > Clean.

EDIT: This is not one Eclipse error. This is a java error. Check if you have java.io package.

@Jaxes74 thank you for your feedback and for playing my game. The reason I did not reserve space for ads is because some users do not have Internet enabled and ads never show up. But in my next update I will fix it.
In my Domino game I use WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON. I have not used in this game to save battery life. But you are right. Players must see the levels without interruptions , I will fix it too in my next update.

I only have 3GB, I fell poor reading this comments. Sad
But I use Gimp, Inkscape, Eclipse, sometimes 4 android emulators at the same time, browsers, music etc and my computer is not slow. So, in my case I don't need 8 or 16 GB of ram. I don't play the latest games tough.

Thank you. The game is already available for free and I will release more packs for free too.
Everything will be ad-suported. I do not like games we must pay to unlock more levels or to get hints.
There are 2 packs. First one with 15 levels (and tutorial) and second one with 10 levels.
I still need to create the hints program, maybe in two days I will release it.
