Hmmm... It must be something related to my super sloppy code Tongue. It works fine on Windows, but I'll see if I can test it on Linux. As for the flying vs jumping, this was the best I could get it to, and I kinda regret using Box2D for such a simple game. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

The graphics and atmosphere was great. I only played for a few minutes so I didn't get too much done but overall it looked really well made. Maybe it'll be an MMORPG that I'll actually play.

Hey JGO,

This is a basic platformer style game I made. My aims for this game was to grasp the basics of LibGDX and Box2D as a precursor to more complex higher quality projects I have in mind. Although it's unlikely that I'll be adding to much more into the game I might make some slight adjustments to physics and perhaps graphics and maybe some more features (main/pause menu, new monsters and animations).

Now, onto the actual game. The aim of the game is to progress upwards and get to the top of the map. Monsters (the red spike things) are placed throughout the map and every time you hit one you lose 10HP (of 1 50HP total). There is a stopwatch system that tells you your time through the map and gives a somewhat measureable 'score'. Once you get to the end or die, you are given a screen that tells you your HP, time and whether you lost or won.


A or Left Arrow: Move Left
D or Right Arrow: Move Right
W or Space: Jump
Left or Right Control: Sprint (It doesn't give any real in-game benifits)

*IMPORTANT NOTE*: You have to double jump for many of the jumps. In order to do so, simply hit either Space or W while already jumping (doesn't work when falling). Don't forget to time the second jump.

Overall, the game is quite hard to grasp as the Box2D physics (as I ended up realising) weren't really that great for this project. However, after a few play throughs you should be able to get a hang of it.

I had no idea what I was doing, but great fun anyway (been playing for about 5 minutes). It was simple to pickup and the gameplay instantly made sense. I found it to be just like the space-based shooting flash games I used to play. I'll play some more and see if I can pick up on any problems.

This is a great game you have coming along. The graphics and music create a great atmosphere adding to the dungeon theme. The attacking mechanics also seem really innovative. It seems like a highly polished piece of work, can't wait to for this to hit some sort of alpha for testing. Great suff, keep it up.

You could try and find the source code for Indutrial Craft 2 or Thermal Expansion 4 (?), both mods for minecraft but with different power systems. Of course you won't be able to implement their methods directly but it would definitely help.

This is out of topic, but just now I realized that my Text Renderer has some huge mem leaks, so I tried to 'make it bigger' just to see what happens, and it so happened that Windows stopped responding completely. I got an error that said that I should restart my computer by pressing escape button (Which didn't work) or manually if escape button didn't work.

I'm surprised that I was able to mess Windows so much just by simply allocating memory.

Off Topic: If you allocate so much memory that Windows doesn't have enough to operate normally it will mess Windows up.

I've made a mobile game before. Zuku Blox (Plug Plug) But sadly I lost 250 dollars on the adventure. The market for iOS apps is horrendous. I just hate the market, thats all.

Agreed! None of the actuall good games ever get to the top in either the iOS or Android markets. However I would recommend getting your game into Android first, if your going to develop for mobile, because it's cheaper to start off with ($25 on off as opposed to Apple's $99/ annum) and it also has a large amount of users with not as many apps.

I just like textpad its quite easy to use for normal java and is also a text editor all in one. Also, I used to use netbeans IDE up until now.
