I have started making a mixed 2D/3D online multiplayer game in Java. The game is called VARN and here's the development site:

What will it be about? Well, if you have ever played the game "Soldat" you got the jest of it. The basic idea comes from that game; a 2D online multiplayer action game seen from the side. You fight against other people on polygon based maps. However I wish to build on that concept by adding more variation in play styles, allowing more flexible maps, increase the support of custom content and have a much more stable network code.

The game is in fact a 2D game, only that part of it is rendered in 3D. I could describe for a long time what I wish the game to be when it's done but I think it's better to let it show as I make changes to it. It'll be a while before it's actually playable.

For now please have a look at the screenshots and videos and tell me what you think. I know it's not much but I'm not posting to showoff anything in particular, I mearly wish to make it known that VARN is in development. And to see if there is any interest in it.
