I understand that you can't separate Javasound.dll from the rest of the JRE (for a smaller download).

1) Does the IBM version fall under the same restriction?

2) Will this change any time soon?

3) Is there an open source version that could be deployed by itself?

It won't be much without a harmonica though. The games uses real-time mic input to control the lasers. You can't play in on a Mac, since Mac OSX doesn't support mic input in Java 1.4.
