I have been trying to take a swing at how to change the hue of an image by reading some tutorials. I was just wondering if anyone could help me or at least point me into the right direction.

Does anyone have a tutorial on string processing? I'm currently working on an RPG and the string processor I have made doesn't always produce good results. For example it cuts out a letter or maybe a whole word. So any tutorial would help to be honest. Thanks!


Okay here is my main problem

it cuts off letters, for example it was supposed to say outer space, but it cut out the u. I realize now that I misspelled that but, thats my main issue. I take a string and split it into two strings. but when I do that it cuts out some things.

It seems you are modifying/adding the same object each time when you do:

knife = Templates.IronThorn

That was done to see if the same item could have different stats so that each item is unique in its own way. but it only seems to add one single item instead of two similar items maybe?

So I am creating a game that will allow the player to craft weapons with random stats. But I am running into a huge issue. I made it to where the numbers generated would print out to the console, but it sets the item stats to the same number as identical items. for example

all of these items have the exact same stats.

but in the console it said other wise.

I dont know where the problem is, I only set the item stats once, but they all are set to the same number. The numbers only generate a new random number every time the program is compleatly restarted. If you have any idea please help. Thanks!

Don't know if you want some advice or whatever but here is that plus some problems.

First problem, collision detection when walking into objects feel really really awkward. Mostly due to the fact that it's going by the tile size, not the size of the actual object on it.

Second problem, the press "e" button to do a certain things appears under this house

Now for what I think should be improved:

When you get hit by an enemy the knockback is just to fast and too sudden. Why not gradually move the player?

The rain effects in my opinion, do not compliment the game's art at all. I feel it should use the same particle system you used for combat and the clicking animation thing when you click in a random place.

And that's pretty much it so far, everything else seems good!  Grin

Edit: This really doesn't affect much but it's visually frustrating: The loading bar is ass backwards.

Thanks! I really need feedback like this. I also was looking into making the rain like the partial system, but I really didn't know how to go about it. I was planning on working on that for the next update.

In the past I have showed two other java games that I have developed. This new one has been in the making for a good year now and I feel it is finally ready to be tested. Currently I haven't worked out a story our any kind of linear progression yet.

currently the features consist of a simple partial system, you can explore the world, fight the monsters that call it home, buy items at shops, collect items from fallen enemies, upgrade your items at the crafting table located in the hero's home, store items in the chest located near the crafting table, scrap your items to buy new items, and of course save and load your game.

I have been trying to add weather to my java game, but I just can't seem to crack it? How would I go about adding rain or snow to my game? I had in mind how weather is in pokemon games.

The underground needs a bit of work, I came to a place with an inaccessible exit door, and its too hard to line up the character to fit through gaps properly (the enemies cant handle it either!). The overworld is interesting though, its not immediately obvious where you're going or what you will find and it takes a while to work out how to deal with the enemies, so its got a good exploration feeling.

Yeah sorry about that, that is where the game actually began and I haven't giving it any attention really.  Clueless

A good while ago I posted a Game that I called Jeff. It was very old and not very good to be honest.
This new build has had a lot more time put into it, and some better artwork as well.

Jeff is an RPG I have been working on for a while. Mainly
You play as well Jeff, You get to explore and see what Sola(The planet your on) has to offer.
The continent Jeff is on is a war zone, troops from the west have invaded and are trying to
occupy; so watch out for crossfire. You will be able to take Jeff into dark dungeons and search for
rare loot and enemies.(Loot is not quite there yet Sad). Don't forget to arm yourself, it can get harsh out there.
You can pick up a sword, a gun, or use your fist if you must.
Jeff Has been in development for quite some time now, and as also suffered a major blow as well. A good chunk
of progress was deleted on accident, but I thought it was finally time to show the public so, here is Jeff.

Other features:

-A Day and night system
-manageable inventory
-loading and saving
-some animated tiles

So this is my first actual project Grin, I'm still learning a few things and I have a lot planned for this game.
The game actually started as just being a dungeon crawler type of game, But I got the idea of an open world
that held secrets and treasures that didn't just belong in a dungeon. As I said I have a lot planned for this game
and recently I started using images so there are still a few things rendered in Graphics g still.

key features -
  GUI's for stats, inventory, etc.
  gaining experience
  day/night cycle
  real time
  fighting all sorts of enemies
  skill books

There will be a download link for the alpha so tell me if there are any huge bugs.
(Oh and don't try and load a saved game right from the start. because there is none. So I recommend saving right when you start I'll fix this soon.)
