really cool game idea! simple and addictive.  Cheesy
2  Games Center / WIP games, tools & toy projects / CastleDefense on: 2013-12-11 08:46:02
I started creating a game that is based on collecting stuff like wood and stone. Like the name says you should protect your own castle. At the moment I am not shure how to go on - maybe someone has a good idea  Smiley

The KI plays the black minions and the player controls the blue minions. When you have 10 wood you can add a new minion by clicking the button.

I wanted to go on like that: use 10 stone and get a knight. Maybe it should be possible to attackt the collecting minions or just the castle.

What do you think about the game so far? Cheesy

You can get the current prototype here:

An enemy has to know which way to move to get to Pac. To find these ways I use A*.

I made my own Pacman. Pathfinding is done with A*.

Here you can get the jar-file:

Have fun!  Grin

Making a tower defense in Java is quite fun - i also did one some weeks ago:

I also started with simple graphics and improved it from time to time. Its not necessary to use LWJGL. I only used

to draw the game and it works pretty well. (Also with a little blood engine I made Grin)

hmm you´re right, web start sounds better than offering a .jar. Do you know a good tutorial for setting up such a mechanism?

You have some good points kutucuk! I think I am going to change the things you mentioned.

Hmm gouessej I dont think that i am going to use Web Start. Not sure, but I think downloading a jar-file is not a problem.

The first bigger game I implemented is JTowerDefense.
You can download the game from my blog:
