What's the best engine to work with if you're just a beginner?   Huh
2  Discussions / Miscellaneous Topics / Re: Wasting my life programming ? on: 2010-04-04 09:16:22
Hey guys this is a question I've been thinking about for a little while .

Well okay, I have a job (not game related) and a girlfriend and sometimes go out to play football with friends, and stuff ... but I'd say 90% of my spare time I'm writing games ... and it's been like that for more than one year !

Even sometimes when I'm just taking a walk with my girlfriennd I'm actually far away thinking about some algorithm to enhace performance of something .

Do you guys ever felt like that ? Or is it just me ?

Well I won't stop writing games anyway, I just want to feel that I'm not the only one Smiley

You're very good at programming, you should continue doing it especially if you really enjoy what you're doing. And people (like me) enjoy playing what you've done.

I like the games, they're whacky. Goes to show the personality of the person who developed it.  Grin

I really like GTA4k and Left 4k Dead.

There are so many things with java games and they're very enjoyable.

You might want to stop disagreeing about stuff you have no experience with whatsoever?

When working with applets, and actually caring about your users, Swing is so darn incompatible and broken among versions, that all that remains is AWT.

That's right, you have to consider those who will be using whatever it is you're developing.

As for Swing, application debugging can be difficult because of the toolkit's visual nature.
