A little platforming game. Hope you enjoy moving in it because that's the point of the game: having fun actually moving.

CONTROLS:
A,D - Move left/right.
W - jump.
S - stop your horizontal movement.
K - activate wall function. (You can do that by standing next to the colored wall and running into it and pressing K)

Hm.... That's heart breaking because I have been looking into this problem for a while now...
1323  Game Development / Performance Tuning / Re: FPS problems in LWJGL on: 2013-05-18 18:03:50
Hm... seems I was wrong. The low fps problem is still there even with intermediate render mode.
1324  Game Development / Performance Tuning / Re: FPS problems in LWJGL on: 2013-05-18 08:21:26
Are you rebuilding vbos each frame?

Hard to help without seeing code.

Whole project is available for download. It's an eclipse project.
1325  Game Development / Performance Tuning / Re: FPS problems in LWJGL on: 2013-05-18 07:15:58
Ok I now know where the problem is. I'm doing something wrong with VBO. I switched to intermediate mode for rendering (glVertex2i, you know the simpliest one) and I seem to be getting twice the FPS. This means I'm doing something very wrong with VBO. If anybody has the time and knowledge you could guide me to the right direction Smiley
1326  Game Development / Performance Tuning / Re: FPS problems in LWJGL on: 2013-05-17 19:25:01
I don't think you understood me. This is just some lame ass game. Shouldn't cause any problems for hardware even in power saving modes. It runs at 1000fps if I don't cap it. But doesn't seem that way when the FPS drop.
1327  Game Development / Performance Tuning / FPS problems in LWJGL on: 2013-05-17 19:02:08
Hello,

Whole eclipse project.
http://www.mediafire.com/?vp0ybzwfutqd4o5

So to the point.

I have a LWJGL game. It renders simple tiles. I'm using VBO along with textures. My game loop calculates when to render and update the game. FPS should be 60. It says 60. After random periods of time my game screen seems to start to laggg like hell. Seems like 10 fps or something. But my game loop still says 60 fps and updates. So I guess this is openGL or LWJGL problem.

A little bit more about my VBO:
I have certain sized vertices(which make certain size squares). I'm guessing this might be caused due to use of translatef.

Just in short again.
Game runs normally. At random times FPS drop very low, but my program executes like usually. FPS fixes after some times. Then starts to lag again. You get the point.

How much space would an array of 1 million integers take in RAM?
1329  Discussions / General Discussions / Storing level data on: 2013-04-04 14:27:43
Hello, anybody knows a good way of storing level data? I mean, I have for example a 2d map made of squares and its dimensions are 1k by 1k. So it makes 1 million squares. Any ideas for storing such things?

PS

Minecraft has like even larger map, and it is 3d. So it makes it 50 if not more times larger. How does minecraft store such things?!
1330  Games Center / WIP games, tools & toy projects / Re: Lunar Rescue on: 2013-04-03 03:05:51
I mean, I start a level, I move, and suddenly the text is all over the place. It just takes away my focus and I nearly crash all times.
1331  Games Center / WIP games, tools & toy projects / Re: Lunar Rescue on: 2013-04-02 17:31:20
What really f**ks the game is text that never stops appearing on screen. You should make a disable option for it. Also make it so that you don't have to load game from level 1 once you die. Or at least not from tutorial.
1332  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / Eclipse doesn't export everything on: 2013-04-01 06:50:18
OK. How does eclipse decide what it is supposed to export, and what not? I'm really confused right now. I have a res folder in my project folder, and everything works fine when ran in eclipse. When I create runnable jar, eclipse doesn't put any of the files that are used for my project into the jar file. I get errors. Any help?

Ugh just found something on the internet.

1334  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / Opening a text file from URL on: 2013-04-01 06:07:04
Hello,

I know how to open image files using URLs. ImageIO.read(Class.class.getResource(string)); How I am supposed to open a text file using URL? I tried converting URL to string, which would fit the format for creating a file from string, but doesn't seem to be working well. It is untill I export my project.
1335  Discussions / Business and Project Management Discussions / Re: Creating A Game, need a team. on: 2013-04-01 06:03:26
A vague thread like this obviously warrants some questions...

- How much will you pay artists/programmers?
- What is the game?
- How qualified are you?
- What is your role if you aren't the one doing art, programming, and audio?

I wish you luck... Roll Eyes

Agree.

Also, what kind of kind would that be? Genre? What techniques are programmers supposed to use? How expierenced do programmers need to be?
1336  Discussions / General Discussions / Streaming my coding on: 2013-03-31 14:17:57
Hello, I'm streaming the coding of my Explorer: iDig (just a temporary name for game). If you want to come along and ask something, I might be able to answer. I could also start talking if I get 3 viewers.

Stuff added:
-Shop layouts;
-Some items;
-Smoke effect;
-Some tiles;
-Acceleration/Deceleration;
-Drilling speed/movement speed formulas implemented.
-Added error/warning messages;

Pretty much I completed everything for basic gameplay.

What is to come to this game:
-NPCs;
-Gameplay;
-Quests;
-Story;

I will give it a though. When I was playing it just now(testing) found it actually pretty hard to do action very fast. To many different keys :/ I will think of something. But you see, this isn't going to be: drill-->sell-->upgrade-->drill more-->repeat: game. I will try to make it as interesting as possible.
1339  Games Center / WIP games, tools & toy projects / Re: Explorer: iDig on: 2013-03-25 06:48:33
I have been working on shop for 2 or 3 days. ONLY on shop.. It was hard as hell. It is working. You do it wrong. You need to stand on black spot just on the most left-top corner of the map and press B. Use Q,E to change shop from sell to buy.
1340  Games Center / WIP games, tools & toy projects / Explorer: iDig on: 2013-03-24 19:55:03
Hello, I have started working on my first "serious" game which i'm planning to finish sometime. I also started a website for my games that I will develop in the future. It's not much now, but you can come and play my Explorer: iDig latest upload on my website. Should be easy to find lolz.
