1  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: Sprite Creator (Finished) on: 2013-02-16 12:06:52
Cool! I think your project could be a great help to people who make free software game. Maybe you could post about it on http://opengameart.org/ ?

Is there an official website / source code repository ?

What are the source code and gfx licences?

I don't understand what you mean by source code licenses. But the source is entirely created by me so I don't need a license for that. As for the images I have permission to use via an email with the company or individuals who have added their stuff to the project.

I hope you can use your own tool :-)

I mean do you release it under a free software license (BSD? MIT? GPL?) or is it a proprietary software?

Same question for the images and the generated characters: are they released under a free license (Creative commons for example)?
3  Java Game APIs & Engines / Tools Discussion / nanimstudio: a free 2d sprite animation editor on: 2013-02-16 09:32:29
I've created a simple gui, called nanimstudio, to edit the 2d sprite animations, of my game, Newton Adventure. It work with a protobuf specified file format, nanim, but can export and import gif and sprite sheets.

Source code (BSD license) and binaries: http://devnewton.bci.im/projects/nanim

Thank you for your reply.

I added an alternative faster link for download for future users.

If you find this game familiar, it's normal, there is some other games in the "rotating platformer" genre. The oldest is Bob's bad day on Amiga I think.

Concerning graphics, I'm working on it, but I'm not an artist Cry

Hello everyone,

Here is my project, a 2d platformer with 360° rotatable levels. It has more than 30 levels, 6 x 5 quests each with different play style (action, puzzle, exploration) and theme (jungle, arctic, volcano...).

I use lwjgl as main api, twl for configuration GUI, phys2d as physical engine, tiled as level editor.

Code is released under BSD License, data under CC-BY-SA 3.0.

The development of this game make me start two other free softwares:

I'm always looking for players advice or contributors ( http://devnewton.bci.im/projects/newton_adventure/wiki?name=Contribute ) to make it better.

I hope you will enjoy playing my game!
