Oh for cryin out loud DUDE it is not something you should be asking. Get a tutorial at and then come back and ask questions. What you are asking is a basic and I mean basic building block of any scene in j3d.

I think the easiest way to texture your model is to use any 3D application such as 3d max. Texture the model there and upload fully textured model into your scene.

Does anyone know how to load a model, lets say from 3d studio max, along with a texture ( texture in max )? ( Note that I know how to load model, but with basic color ). The thing is that I do not want to set all the texture coordinates using java. For this I would like to use max, which is a faster way.

I am using NCSA portfolio.

Well, when I started this simple app I did not realize that there is so many version of it already on the web. I did it anyway, just to practice Java3D, take a look here
its under j3d

Java Web Start and JAR files are the choice.

Alright, problem solved.
Actually the only thing i had to do was put all TransformGorups into createSceneGraph()

New Problem:
It looks like my garbage collector doesnot work.
When I load new Model the old one is not being garbage collected.

Any clues on how to do it.

The best place to find out how to use Path...Interpolator is java's own tutorial. It takes care of everything. It shows you how to use every single paramter in that paticular class

go to chapter 5 and there find this class, I believe its sub chapter 5.2.7

I know great book like tutorial online here is the link:

go to java 3d section, I blieve chapter 15 talks about first person perspective view and a gun. That might give you some clues on how to stick the object to the viewing platform and follow it.
If not see other chapters. I am curretly reading that tutorial but so far I am on chapter 10. So good luck, hope this is helpfull
