1  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Re: How to add a object to a exist scene? on: 2005-04-13 21:21:31
Oh for cryin out loud DUDE it is not something you should be asking. Get a tutorial at java.sun.com and then come back and ask questions. What you are asking is a basic and I mean basic building block of any scene in j3d.
Regards
2  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Re: Texturing loaded models on: 2005-03-01 15:23:34
I think the easiest way to texture your model is to use any 3D application such as 3d max. Texture the model there and upload fully textured model into your scene.

6  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Load model with texture already on on: 2005-02-11 23:31:22
Does anyone know how to load a model, lets say from 3d studio max, along with a texture ( texture in max )? ( Note that I know how to load model, but with basic color ). The thing is that I do not want to set all the texture coordinates using java. For this I would like to use max, which is a faster way.

I am using NCSA portfolio.

Thanks

8  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Another 3D Viewer on: 2005-01-24 00:52:22
Well, when I started this simple app I did not realize that there is so many version of it already on the web. I did it anyway, just to practice Java3D, take a look here

http://www.dustwormsoft.com
its under j3d

Java Web Start and JAR files are the choice.

9  Game Development / Networking & Multiplayer / Java Web Start JNLP Tutorial on: 2005-01-18 22:24:28
Hi
I have been searching online for a while for a good tutorial about JWS and JNPL, and could not find anything that would explain in easy steps how to set this whole thing up.
Does anyone one know where can I find a good tutorial?

Thanks

11  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Re: Java3D compiler Err regarding restricted acces on: 2005-01-15 04:30:39
Alright, problem solved.
Actually the only thing i had to do was put all TransformGorups into createSceneGraph()

New Problem:
It looks like my garbage collector doesnot work.
When I load new Model the old one is not being garbage collected.

Any clues on how to do it.

Code that was suppose to do that is
scene.detach();

15  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Re: Moving an object over a surface? on: 2005-01-14 13:42:06
Hey
The best place to find out how to use Path...Interpolator is java's own tutorial. It takes care of everything. It shows you how to use every single paramter in that paticular class
here is the link to that tutorial

http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/collateral/

go to chapter 5 and there find this class, I believe its sub chapter 5.2.7

16  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 3D / Re: First person view? on: 2005-01-14 13:35:33
Hey
I know great book like tutorial online here is the link:

http://fivedots.coe.psu.ac.th/~ad/jg/

go to java 3d section, I blieve chapter 15 talks about first person perspective view and a gun. That might give you some clues on how to stick the object to the viewing platform and follow it.
If not see other chapters. I am curretly reading that tutorial but so far I am on chapter 10. So good luck, hope this is helpfull

Hey
Thanks for your input. I am still trying JFileChooser. Might finish it tonight. If anything will load models through batch file and forget about web start heheh. Thats what happens when you are a n[-_-][-_-]b
