I agree with Syrusm. The first priority should be to convince people that they can benefit from using Java. Right now, alot of baseline technology has already been implemented on top of the free stuff that is out there.

We need to attract the attention and financial support of the outside industries. When they see what is possible, the fixes that we want will follow in step.

I am pretty sure that's the way the code is setup in the tutorial. I am not having any problems with the Alut class.

Hi everyone!

I am getting another crash when I am trying to open a device with contexts. I have tried to pass null as well as "DirectSound3D" so far, with no results. When making a call to alcGetString, I get a Null Pointer on the return of the call.

I have had no problems working with the ALut at all.

Is there any other valid parameter to pass?

Has anyone played with the Sound 3D Toolkit? It looks pretty sharp as a nice wrapper on top of the AL stuff. Anyone done anything with it so far?

Just a quick question about the EAX support for JOAL.

Currently I am checking to see if the extension is present using the string "EAX". I am getting a positive result from the query.

Here is a chunk of code I was using to get it setup:

The documentation isn't clear as to which set function should be used, the sequence to use them, etc.. The early EAX spec from the Creative doc says to use the propSet method (only one of them) to set an effect to a source..

After the setup, I just play the sound normally.

Is then an obvious mistake that I am making?

When creating contexts, it's listed that I can  specify an int[] of attributes to be applied to a specific context like this

ALC.Context context = alc.alcCreateContext(device,attribs );

attribs is an int[] that I set up as follows:

int[] attribs = {ALC.ALC_SYNC,AL.AL_TRUE, ALC.ALC_FREQUENCY,9600};

Am I setting up the attribs array incorrectly? Is it possible that these attributes are not implemented for JOAL yet?

I recently updated to the December 20th build. After setting the try/catch blocks for the new OpenALException around ALut..alutInit() I got a hard crash.

Here was part of the dump:

An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) occurred at PC=0x77F69ECD
Function=RtlpWaitForCriticalSection+0x8A
Library=C:\Windows\System32\ntdll.dll

Before it blew up I got the "GO Team message" then it said it was entering alutInit with a device string set as null, then it blew up before my exception caught any problems.

After double checking my code, I rolled back to earlier versions of the libs and this problem went away with all apps functioning as they had previously.

Anyone else seen this one?
