To All

Does anyone know of a University\College or Instituition that does Games Development correspondence via the mail or Web. I am currently in a Computing Job at the moment, and I am not in the financial position to leave and do the course full time as a degree or diploma.

If anyone knows of a source then it would be much appreciated.

5  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: java.lang.InternalError:Could not get display on: 2004-06-10 14:00:17
To Java Games Users

I have this working now.

Today I Installed Direct X 9.0b as per Microsoft Security Bulletin over the web, I also installed the security patch for that version of Direct X for Windows 2000.

http://go.microsoft.com/?LinkID=607074

I installed Java 1.5 Beta 2 and ran Davids examples (Developing Games in Java) which worked, with no problem.

So I though maybe it was the Direct X upgrade that sorted this. So I de-installed JDK1.5 Beta2 and tried again. The programs came up with the same error.

There is no mention in the book that you need JDK 1.5 for these examples.

So there it is for anyone with the same problem

9  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / Re: How do I start Java Game Programming on: 2004-06-02 13:18:43
To Java Games Forum

My apologies for my impatience I didn't mean to offend, but I am just getting a bit keen to get started in Java games programming. I am picking up Developing Games in Java in the bookstore tonight, and will get to grips with the basics first.

I am somewhat confused about what technology to use that would initially be good for a beginner.

I was only just asking about the technology, as I am confused about Java3D , LWJGL , 3dgamessdk etc,.

Maybe the book will give me a good place to start.

Regards and Thanks for your PATIENCE

???What do I need to do to start Java Game Programming. Don't have much time to traul the discusion forums.

Apart from j2sdk1.4.2_04, what other SDK's and software do I need and how do configure them when they are installed, ie PATHs and CLASSPATHS. Can someone give me instructions on how to set up the j3dgamesdk. I have tried it and getting errors.

Do I need a special graphics card with Acceleration for the j3dgamesdk to work, if so which one and the cheapest.

Regards and Thanks
