Hi all!  Smiley
Sorry for my inactivity.. I have been away for a while now.
It seems like I can't join spacebomber.java.net  Huh
How do I do?

Thanks in advance.

No problem with your english, I understand it Wink.
See if xith3d.jar is in more than one place in the classpath.

Does anyone else know?

Oh sorry for my inactivity, I have been busy for a long while..
Nice ideas, everybody!

We can start with doing a little game, but we can make it possible to extend it afterwards.

I got to think about some more Smiley

We could try to make a system based on votes then a volounteer writing it.  Wink
7  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Shall we unite our knowledges? on: 2005-03-10 17:16:19
Hi all.

Xith is relatively new and almost everyone (for example me Smiley) doesn't know so much about it.
Why not making a open-source xith game?
Everyone could contribute with his code.

Please reply your opinions.

I don't know how to optimize it but please somebody try.
I don't even know how to pick the whole universe, I only know how to check if a shape is being picked, but triangle and point of intersection is in for the moment Wink.

Good luck and please optimize and add code.

9  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: Picking terrain on: 2005-02-27 14:20:33
I have done my own code and it's working fine with all shapes.
You get the triangle picked in the shape and the position of the intersection.
It is taking 0,02 milliseconds/triangle to calculate it.

How to test if a vertex is visible to the camera?

Thanks.

Hi all!

I have a terrain and want to place a small texture in the middle of it, maybe more times on other places (like grass on the terrain).

How to do it?

Thanks in advance.

12  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: How to get object picking system work? on: 2005-02-11 14:30:47
How to get the picking system faster?
Like it is now, 250 ms is fast Tongue.
I have a big terrain, but want to pick both the terrain and some units moving around on it, I want it to be calculated
< 5 ms like other games..
13  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: NEW TO XITH 3D on: 2005-02-09 18:28:04
You maybe are stuck in a loop?
Like putting the while loop on the wrong place..
Try to write the update routine in a separate thread.

Good luck
14  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: Is anyone actually using Xith3D for a game? on: 2005-01-11 14:21:48
I am making a game and hopefully a beta is going to release sometime in 2005.
I think also the biggest problem I have is the UI.

15  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Collision projectile on: 2005-01-11 14:17:35
I was wondering if not sending away a projectile,
like a cube which is 0.000001 (just for example) in size,
is faster than ray picking.

For me picking is eating time and I want to fix this (big) problem.

If we finally could make a good collision detector, I think sending away that cube in the speed of light hehe Wink would be faster.

Will, you know more than I do in this case so please reply Wink.

Hi all

I have made a copy of Java cool dude's water but the reflection he uses what I can see is made by a box and not "real" reflections.

I know 'real' reflections are eating more time but I want to know how to do it  Cheesy

Thanks in advance

BoundingSphere.intersect(Point, Vector) :
Does this method calculate collisions with a ray or a segment?

Sorry I crosspost, but I want this to work soon.
I use TexCoordGeneration(SPHERE_MAP),
but the texture is only on the side to the camera, and not around the whole sphere.

I have a planet and want the texture to be all around it.
How to do it?

I am experimenting with my game and now I want some dynamic textures  Wink.

Does anyone know how to put e.g a .gif picture on the texture?
I can't work it out  Tongue.

Also the ConcurrentModificationException occours when the list is used while adding a new object to it.
I am going to make my own CopyOnWriteArrayList to fix this problem.

I will post it when it's done.

26  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: pick ray on: 2004-12-02 16:45:42
Hi,

I am trying to make an overview of a world, and I want the user to select objects dragging the mouse over it (while pressing the button).

In example:
I click the left mouse at (100, 100) and drag it to (200, 200).
Let's say the vectors will be (1, 1, -2) and (3, 3, -2) and I have a point, let's say (0, 0, -10).

The question here is, how do I know the point is inside the selection if the camera is located at (0, 0, 0)?

I was using odejava before, but I didn't want to add bounding boxes (e.g to my terrain) so I started to make an own system.

If somebody knows how to use odejava with Shape3D's and TransformGroups (I want it to check triangles even if a triangle has moved) please reply.

Thanks

Btw we are working on a port of ode to java (not a wrapper) but it won't be done in a long time.
