You probably won't get to see the source, but Sigmore Mines 2 is a nice little J2ME RPG (more like a visual roguelike) that you could look at to get an idea of how it could work.

Edit: Uhh, May, huh. Sorry bout that, didn't notice. No delete button, either :S

cool! I like how the camera moves while moving the character

@CyanPrime
sure!
3  Java Game APIs & Engines / J2ME / Help in Planning for a new Java ME Game on: 2010-01-08 02:03:47
Hi everyone,

I have a new game project called Jailbreak
 [http://www.addictinggames.com/jailbreak.html]
And I am to implement this in a mobile game.

Before I start, I thought about asking here about the best way to implement this.
Should I use Antenna? How about frameworks? etc.

I did some Java ME game before using the Game API from MIDP 2.0. But I didn't feel like my code is organized well since I've been having a hard time in late development.

thanks!!!!

thanks for the reply. I think I'll just go with Slick, j2me development is too much to test although I recently learned catching RuntimeExceptions in a real device, really helpful. thanks again
5  Java Game APIs & Engines / J2ME / Help: A Good J2ME Rpg for reference on: 2009-05-12 15:53:47
Hi, new here. Most of my experience in Java is with Web apps, swing, and recently I did a J2ME application for my internship using the super complex PIM api  Grin and I just finished our Thesis prototype, a MIDlet that uses, WMA and MMAPI.

I tried making a rpg game before using the Game API but I felt that my code is not clean and is bad at oop design. Just this morning I started thinking of making a J2me RPG, but this time I would ask help from the PRO's.

I'm looking for all the resources for making an RPG in J2ME, all the important rpg elements and  concepts (eg. restricting a sprite to pass through a tree w/c I impl it using collidesWith(sprite) b4, is that good?) and ultimately a J2me rpg source code made by a PRO like all the people here  Grin

I will really appreciate all the help I can get, thank you very much in advance!

I hope this topic does not deal only with J2ME.

For all of you who want to create RPG games, heres a really great article concerning game design of rpg (and mmorpg).

http://mu.ranter.net/theory/printversion.html

a must read!  Wink

Thanks! I started thinking of making an RPG this morning, I did one before but my oop skills are poor. The articles looks like it's about General concepts but still helpful. Any article that is focused in J2ME RPG's? Thanks! I'm New here btw
