1  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / class not found error... on: 2008-07-18 06:09:17
Whenever i am trying to execute my program, the run time exception arises saying "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError". This happens for every program i try to execute. There are no compile time errors. But while executing, this error occurs. Has this got to do anything with the path settings? Or is this something else..? Please help. All my programs are stuck at execution... Sad

This is one of the program's that i'm trying to execute which didnt.

import javax.swing.*;
public class NewGui
public static void main(String[] args)
JFrame frame=new JFrame();
JButton button=new JButton("Click Me");

It compiled but didn't execute.

The command i used to compile was

and the command to execute was

java NewGui

Also, Under the environment variables option, we got two options. One is a CLASSPATH and the other one is Path. I edited the Path section and added the following two paths:

C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\bin;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\lib;

So is this fine or do I need to add some other paths also?

Please help...

Is it possible just to create an application that just displays a splash screen and then exits? Like every application starts with a splash screen and then proceeds to the actual application, I just want to develop an application, which upon execution just displays a splash screen and then exits. Is it possible? If some one can help me with th code part... I shall be greatful. Thanks Smiley

I heard that there are many games which are developed using java. But all the names that I heard were unknown... I mean I never heard of those games before. Does that mean that they are all very low end games? Is it possible to develop a game like NFS [Need For Speed] using the Java language? Please do reply as I am very keen to develop Hi End games using Java. Roll Eyes
