1  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Error Jogl/jogl2 and java6 update 14 on: 2009-10-16 10:50:09
that works but only with java6u14 and above im getting this problem
2  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: problem with glu.gluUnproject on: 2009-10-15 07:05:22
And u dont need to update the vertex list of the model or the stroke?

If u mean u wanna rotate the model and stroke together do the rotation before drawing both.
3  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: problem with glu.gluUnproject on: 2009-10-15 07:03:44
i mean to keep the depth coord steady equal during the stroke or to take the depth value at each point and if the value gives out of model value ie 0 or 1 to keep the last one.
4  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: JOGL2 TextureIO missing newTextureData method??? on: 2009-10-15 07:00:29
Im hearing a lot of plugin3 where can i find more info about it?
5  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Net Beans and JOGL2 plugin on: 2009-10-13 14:31:12
Off topic:  Does anyone know if there is a plan for eclipse plugin for JOGL
6  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: FBO (convert to jogl2 problem) (update:solution found) on: 2009-10-13 14:29:22
these are changes reflects by OpenGL3 changes
7  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: JOGL doesn't have a data structure like point3d/point3f ?? on: 2009-10-13 14:27:38
Isnt it better for you to build ur own specific datastructure of points vectors..etc

I always find the build in data structure a burden. In directly accessing the opengl commands u will get a more low level control Smiley
8  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: GLCanvas mixing with custom Swing problems on: 2009-10-08 11:00:42
Try using a java version lower than java6U14 since i am having the same problem with my application on this update and up
9  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: problem with glu.gluUnproject on: 2009-10-08 09:17:03
Well the most easy way (not that easy) is to have the stroke drawn on the model (ie: use the xyz of wcoord on every mouse drag event) and ignore the ones that are not on the model it self (if the user continue the line outside the model).

Then split the triangles/polygons with the poly line you have now. and color the triangles accordingly  Smiley

good point  persecutioncomplex
11  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: problem with glu.gluUnproject on: 2009-10-08 07:34:41
why arent u using the coord at Z if you want the stroke to be on the model?
12  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Bindless Graphics on: 2009-10-08 07:32:44
well im on desktop, can we have this option?  persecutioncomplex
13  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Error Jogl/jogl2 and java6 update 14 on: 2009-10-07 14:06:30
i guess removing the component draw will solve it, any idea on how to do that.

The grey color im guessing comes from the awt component!
14  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Bindless Graphics on: 2009-10-07 14:04:27
where can i find more details on gluegen? can it bind C++ libs
15  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: problem with glu.gluUnproject on: 2009-10-07 14:01:49
Meaning is it in eye coordinates or modelview? can you post ur code?
16  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: problem with glu.gluUnproject on: 2009-10-07 14:00:44
Is X your mouse position?
17  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Error Jogl/jogl2 and java6 update 14 on: 2009-10-01 13:04:39
I tried with it again, the scene is intializing and the gleventlistener is being caled for init and display but it seems to be hidden under the component (cuz the canvas is grey always which is not even the background color)
18  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Weird behavior Jogl and java6 update 14 on: 2009-10-01 11:38:54
I tried this on jogl 2 with java6 update 14 and still the same problem appears. The scene is not being initialized.

Any ideas

I added a new topic for the above stated problem with java6U14

20  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Error Jogl/jogl2 and java6 update 14 on: 2009-09-29 14:00:55
HI all,

Ive been asking around on this issue with no luck!

I have a 3D scene (GLCanvas) added in the center of a layout using JIDE. The problem rises on a jre version 6 update 14 and above:

When the scene is docked the canvas is grey (not background color). when un docked  the scene is shown again.

When i revert back to a java version update 13 and lower it works fine?

Im really stuck on this, any help is highly appreciated!  persecutioncomplex
21  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: JOGL 1.1.1a and multiple monitors on: 2009-09-29 13:49:42
I am having somehow the same problem but in different context. I have Jide layout and the scene is in the center docked if you undock the scene will show and if you dock it will turn grey.

Note: only seen on java 6 update 14 and above. i reverted to U13 and it worked fine.

Maybe it will help in your case as well
22  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: A way to draw a Swing hierarchy over an external OpenGL context on: 2009-09-29 13:45:54
Nice method, i was wondering about  the performance of such a mix?
23  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Create texture with different GLContext(on another thread) on: 2009-09-29 13:42:17
ok in case of games the above wont do, im into CAD not a game engineer persecutioncomplex sorry
24  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: How can I access the picture in my canvas? on: 2009-09-29 09:13:58
yup com.sun.opengl.util.awt.Screenshot
25  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: How can I access the picture in my canvas? on: 2009-09-29 08:00:37
u can use the snapshot class if you need the whole image
26  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Create texture with different GLContext(on another thread) on: 2009-09-29 07:59:09
I dont have such code, but if you want a quick one try using an on-demand method. (dont know if it works for ur case) If you need to display a texture pixel load the region of this texture where (s,t) are part of it.

In the end you might not even load the whole thing if you dont need it (not seen)
27  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Create texture with different GLContext(on another thread) on: 2009-09-29 06:57:35
i agree with orange tang i tried multiple contexts for a similiar issue and it is unsafe to use.

If you need your textures to be loaded while you are interacting (not on app init. ) i guess you can put them into a buffer and on demand retrieve them from  main memory ( need a fancy shader for that)
28  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: glReadPixels, glDrawPixels / Overlay crash on: 2009-09-28 14:05:46
Check the variable values on drag or post the trace bcuz as lhkbob said its mostly a problem in the code not regarding OpenGL calls
29  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Create texture with different GLContext(on another thread) on: 2009-09-28 13:54:46
Cant see why u need two contexts for loading textures?
