Hello.

I have earlier made a game named Ryerplex and  placed the game as a subpage on my personal website.
I have now made a seperate page for the game and added additional levels.

Take a look: http://nicelittlegames.com

I recommend creating a user, it allows you to play alle the levels. (Guests can only play the first 10 levels)
Creating a user does not inl´clude any email verifycation or anything. It is fast and painless.

What do you think?

The 1 percent is caused by round-off of the numbers.

If you have other ideas for things like this, please let me know. Im planning on making a website, with a lot of these types of odd stydies.

Well I will think about the main character thing Smiley

I just added a simple highscore and another way of updating the game logic (Using the time elapsed since last update).

Is the game speed ok now? Or is it still too slow?

- Just added a new Level: "Pick one" Smiley Go check it out - and please register, its very fast!

WORK COMPLETE !!!

Login system made!!

I will go work on a highscore now.
11  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: [First release] Ryerplex - Applet on: 2006-09-27 19:09:43
Thankyou kev.

I just moved the levels from being hardcoded to be loaded from a database.

The next steps I will make are:

1. Login system to make a highscore table of people completed most levels.
2. An online level editor for all users to make their own levels and play them. It would then likely be possible if they could submit their levels to the level database and the level pool would grow in time and these levels would be included in the big highscore calculation.

These are dreams, and I will take em one at the time. Currently I am working on making the applet start with a java script making it possible just to click at a certain level on the page and then instantly play it in the applet without any post backs. Im almost done with this part.

I will post a thread when the javascript version is up running.

Thanks again for the reply.

Well thats a hard statement, not comparing yourself to anyone? I believe that competition makes us evolve, but I understand your point of view in some way: People should evolve in different directions Smiley

How old are you?
13  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: [First release] Ryerplex - Applet on: 2006-09-27 18:33:15
I will go make it possible to:
- Adjust the game speed
- Pick a level to play
- Reduce the coins in level 1 to a few.

You are very right in alle three points. Smiley Thankyou for the reply. I will post again when the job is done.

I have posted this thread, but I havent got any response yet, so I will try to start a thread here too then.

I Seek people for making levels for my game. It is all explained in the other thread.

I am aware that this is double posting, but I dont think the people I seek, look in the other section I posted in.  Undecided
15  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Feedback request for Mazeland.net ; A maze with obstacles on: 2006-09-25 23:13:39
I just tried your game, and I kinda like this type of game. The game play it self.

Since you charge for this game, may I ask how old you are? No offence. Just to know a little about the guy behind Smiley (im 22 myself)

I love puzzles, and the idea itself is beloved world over, but I agree with the other comments posted so far about graphics and the lack of sound. The movements could be done a little more smooth perhaps. Anyway, it is stille obvious that you spent a lot of time and effort making this game. My suggestion is, that you forget about selling the game and instead let poeple play it for free in exchange of comments and suggestions, improving your skills. Cus what are money when you can have skills Wink

The good thing about your game is that it does have originality. Pushing a stone and then walk over it. I like that element Smiley

I just released a puzzle game myself, an old classic too like yours, but in the mine digger genre. Link: http://www.java-gaming.org/forums/index.php?topic=14956.msg118537#msg118537 I havent planned on charging for this game ever. Instead I plan on making people able to create their own levels and play each others etc.

But dont compare yourself to Kevglas' tiltilation. Kevglas is very pro and the game is awesome pollished. He seems inhuman Wink

24  Game Development / Game Mechanics / Re: New little engine - opinions wanted on: 2006-07-12 06:05:06
In the Sand/Solid applet I have an array of booleans (A map) to determine if a certain spot is takeng by another sand-particle. Then I have an array of ints telling how high the ground gows.

When a sand-particle is updated, it checks if the spots beneith is free. This is found out by combining the boolean map and the ground int-array. If is is taken it checks if it is possible to move to one of the sides.

So the answer is yes, I do the calculation for each sand-particle Smiley

With "Liquid" you mean the "Sand" ?
26  Game Development / Game Mechanics / New little engine - opinions wanted on: 2006-07-09 21:01:14
I just made a new little engine. WHat it does is raising and lowering the level of the image and adds light corresponding to this.

Link:

Use left and right mouse button to raise / lower the level

Please contact me at support @ arraypainter . com. Then I can send you the essential part of the Hair-applet Smiley

29  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: [Check out] Landscape Manipulator on: 2006-03-22 15:42:33
verlet?? What ya mean?
30  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: [Check out] Landscape Manipulator on: 2006-03-22 10:49:20
WHat is that game? Smiley

Well the essential thing in hair is more visible if you switch to:

Line segment length: 32
Line segment count: 4

Then it is easier to see whats actiually happening.

The entire hair is composed of a number of segments.

I will be back tonight in details on how its is made. It is not very hard.
