Man I tell you what cas, of all of your games, this is still my favorite.  I know it's an iddy biddy applet with only a few levels and I can't even get the 3rd upgrade, but I love this game Smiley  If you made a full version of this with the quality you put into the rest of your games, I'd definitely buy it.  On second thought... wanna make it together? Already halfway through Puppy Invaders "Deluxe". It's less like our big games and more like Puppytron though. Basically smoother, nicer, bigger than the applet, and with online scores.

All the same ones as in the applet... plus perhaps a few special ones you can't buy that just fall out of the sky.

I prefer Puppytron. It's fearsomely addictive. Although puppytron.net was down when I got a score of over 100,000 so it wouldn't save it  Cry

Puppytron is definitely the best game I've yet written. But I've got several more little ones on the drawing board which should all be just as fun.

I thought the puppy robots are cute.
You should have made them all furry.

Nice work Princec.

Interesting to hear you say that. It's also one of the simplest (from a graphical viewpoint), although all the little effects make a big difference, like the way the robots materialize and the particle explosions. It's just highly concentrated gameplay. The sound effects are really good as well.

I play puppy invaders way too much, but I can't get past the part where those two clusters of purple things come down at you. I would definitely buy a deluxe version if the price was right.

Anyway, I thought I'd mention that it doesn't play that great on OS X. Sometimes the ship gets "stuck" when you are firing. It's fairly easy to recreate the problem if you hold down control and then try to move back and forth. A lot of times, the ship won't move. This doesn't happen on Windows, though.

That's the usual Sun "write once, broken everywhere" Java rubbish. You're looking at a prime case for the raison d'etre of LWJGL there!

Tip: problems with clusters of gidrahs? You need a smartbomb handy Wink

little games eh?  I'd love to see what's running in the background!  BTW I have a new LWJGL game I'm doing which is very simple in gameplay.  I just need to add the setup GUI and I'll share it with you guys Smiley

Chaz has got all the Earth, Moon, and Mars levels done now, and he's added Titan finally. I've just put in a feature where occasionally you don't quite destroy a gidrah and it'll keel over and nosedive out of formation to the ground, and a little alien jumps out in parachute. If you catch him there's a $100 bonus; if you miss him you get a -$250 escaped alien penalty! Of course you can always shoot him too Smiley

This week I'll be putting in Challenge Stages which will occur every 7 levels, and will involve you trying to 100% shoot a bunch of flying saucers as they whiz overhead. Also this week, a few more alien movement patterns.

Incidentally, what the hell does gidrah mean? Google only turns up your posts in various forums.

Perfect for me, and I think a very good, easy to spend price for a (by today's standards) small invaders/galaga type arcade game.
But I suppose you'll need lots of traffic/buyers to get anything out of it for that price. If you want I can direct visitors from my site to it as well as puppygames' style of games seem to fit well with retrogaming, which is what most of my visitors are interested in, I suppose.

I'd buy it as soon as I could get off my ass.
That is the issue after all.

Gidrahs is a term from some cheesy Japanese godzilla-style sci-fi movies Smiley King Gidrah or somesuch. I saw it on the telly about 15 years ago with some friends and the name's sort of stuck as a term for "the aliens" or any other sprite for that matter that appears to have behaviour not controlled by a player.
