falling into the abyss of reality

« on: 2010-02-10 16:58:13 »

Demo it, Buy it, Play it, Love it, Complete It, Feel Satisfied.  Smiley

Thief, Wizard, Knight. Skeletons, XP, Loot! Fairy-tale story & a nice physX driven engine to squash it all together.
It's a stunningly beautiful game, both visually and audibly.
I think they've also managed to get the balance between feature depth & game length just right, as the gameplay is satisfying all the way to the end, without ever feeling repetitive.

Perfect indie game IMHO.

Plus it's crazy cheap on Steam atm! (£4.25)

:edit:

Warning, don't start playing this at 11:30pm like I did, as you might find yourself still playing it @ 4am  persecutioncomplex

I'm getting so sick of physics based 2d platformers. It's getting to become the photoshop lensflare of gaming.
Sure, the technology is impressive, but it's SO easy and SO common, anyone can whip one together over the weekend.

With trine, they took a game like that and gave it a nice cover, but I felt it wasn't enough to save it.

Strangely, I found Little Big Planet enjoyable.

Yes! I really enjoyed Trine. As far as physics platformers go, I feel they did a terrific job.

I watched the video.  Very pretty platformer.  Guess it depends on how many interesting ways they can use the physics.

The real fun of it comes from the three different characters and what they can do one at a time. It can get pretty fun switching between them and finding new ways to solve the same puzzles.

That never made any sense to me. I felt like I was playing a shapeshifter, not three different characters.

I learned that if you're trapped you can bash your way out by running head-first into the nearest wall. Grin

I just tried the multiplayer with my sister; it supports multiple keyboards and mice, and it works flawlessly!

Given how cheap usb keyboards & mice are, I wonder why I haven't seen this kind of MP support in other games?
